CBG is the principal precursor of phytocannabinoids in its acid form. This compound is nonpsychoactive and is a relatively weak partial agonist for both CB1 and CB2. It has been shown to relieve intraocular pressure, which is potentially useful in the treatment of glaucoma. Additionally, its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties make it a potential candidate for inflammatory bowel disease. Recent evidence identifies CBG as a potential candidate for treatment of colon cancer.
